Just for fun / Is this a 5/5 cache
« on: October 24, 2013, 07:33:33 pm »
I have now submitted Losing My Religion - Digital Remaster. GC4PXGB  This is by far the hardest cache I have ever submitted. To complete the stages you need a qr reader, solve a magic eye puzzle, identify stages by photos taken at GZ and use a UV light (not all at the same time) The trail is just over a mile long. When solved the final is about 10 feet off the ground in a busy part of the city and it is not possible to climb to. Most of the terrain is pavement but there is a steep grass bank to negotiate for one stage and I feel the final warrants a 5* on it's own.

Caching Gear/ Tech Talk / Unusual ideas for multis any ideas
« on: October 18, 2013, 12:44:55 am »
I am really struggling  trying to build a wherigo so am thinking of other unusual ways of organising a multi. One idea I am playing with is UV pens and black light  . Do you think this would make it a 5* difficulty as it would need special equipment I am thinking of not supplying the UV torch. I would mention it in the log so cachers knew what they needed to bring. I have placed the cache in a place that again needs special equipment or teamwork to retrieve and replace so am thinking this could be a 5/5. any thoughts or other unusual ideas?

Also does anyone know if co-ords writen with UV pen count as a physical or non physical waypoint?

This will be the last multi in my Losing My Religion series which visits the sites of lost Churches in Norwich. The others include a photo trail, a question and answer trail where you have to identify which question to answer at whch way point and 2 simple question and answer trail.

Caching Gear/ Tech Talk / Problems seeing photos on cache page
« on: October 08, 2013, 02:19:03 pm »
I have just had my GC4PQZE Multi-cache Losing My Religion - Cover Versions which is a photo trail where finders have to go 8 co-ordinates and see which photo was taken from that location. if they are correct this will lead to the location of the final and log book.

My problem is I and some other cachers can see the required pictures when viewing the cache page but some cachers have reported that they are unable to see the photos and thus can not complete the cache.

I guess the reviewer could see them in order to publish the cache. I wrote the page using HTML codes and the photos are published on my flicker page and I down loaded them to the cache page gallery. The reviewer has since removed the logs that I downloaded them with and they are no longer displayed in the gallery.

Any ideas what is going wrong and more importantly how do I fix it.

PLEASE HELP if you can.

If you look at the page please let me know if you can see the pictures

I have posted requests for help on 2 other geocaching forums and until I can get this sorted properly the photos with their numbers can be viewed at][url=http://http://www.flickr.com/photos/stickbouncer/sets/72157636255926096/]

I have received this helpfull answer from Mattishall Marauders on EACachers forum. "Have just had a quick look and everything seems fine using Firefox and Chrome. However, when I tried using Internet Explorer, the pictures were not there. So it may be a case of trying a different browser.
Hope this helps."

Thanks

Mark

Just for fun / Did You Know
« on: December 12, 2012, 09:03:16 pm »
We all know some bizarre facts or statistic, some may be true others make us wonder how or why we know that. Well time to release those little gems that no one else knows and more than likely does not want to know.

Did you know-
You are 5 times more likely to die from falling out of bed than whilst flying! I now sleep with a parachute on.

Anyone else Know anything that we all should know but don't??
Over to you

General Caching / I have had enough
« on: November 25, 2012, 10:24:41 pm »
After yet another run in with a reviewer about placing caches I have had enough. I do not like conflict and I do not like being treated unfairly. I have appealed to groundspeak but expect they will side with the reviewer no matter what I say.

I was just starting to find new ways to enjoy caching too but at the moment I feel the event on 5th Jan will be the last thing I do geo-caching wise

General Caching / Bad publicity for geocaching on youtube by craghopper
« on: November 25, 2012, 09:26:59 pm »
Craghoppers have posted this video on YouTube which I feel puts UK cachers discussions with landowners back years.
I have sent an email to them complaining and informing them of my intention to boycott, and encourage others to do so, all of their products until such times as it is withdrawn. customerservices@craghoppers.com, I would suggest that as many as possible email with the same basic complaint.

Just for fun / Have you ever heard anything so daft??
« on: November 25, 2012, 07:12:32 pm »
Okay I have to admit I actually said this today and it was not until my companion laughed that I realised what I had done.
I was out doing some maintenance on some of my caches and we met back at the car and I realised I had left my GPS at one of the places i had been. Off we head back the way i had came and soon found it on the ground safe and okay. I turned and said

"I am so relieved I don't know where I would be without my GPS"

So am I the only one or have you heard or said something daft while caching.

I have a few more I will confess when I have heard your confessions

General Caching / Birdie's Peach Jar Challenge 2
« on: November 23, 2012, 08:39:01 pm »
I have something in production  for Birdie's Peach Jar Challenge 2 but a question to all you potential voters.

What is your idea of a fun cache?

A traditional with an element of humour or surprise

An engaging multi

A multi with puzzles, challenging features and twists that will challenge you and probably take a couple of hours to complete.

Yes this is what I am thinking of but if it runs the risk of not getting enough votes then I would like to know which way I should go.:con

Feedback Please.

What ever I go for will be released on Christmas day in order to stand a chance of max voters,

Caching Events / Bouncers Belated Birthday Bash GC4090K
« on: November 02, 2012, 07:01:02 pm »
Post Christmas get together in a pub where I used to work. Read clue for hint at the name.

The event will start at 11am and will continue till the evening so pop along any time for a chat and a drink or bite to eat as this pub has both and has a carvery for those who need something more substantial.

This is my first anniversary as a geo-cacher and hope to see friends old and new to help me celebrate.

Bouncer will be around for most of the day and has agreed to offer help to anyone having problems with his Birthday Bash series.

I will also try to make myself available to anyone who is struggling with any of the caches that I have set.

There will be a log book and a geocoin/trackables swop box

It is hoped that a number of new caches will be available on the day for those who have missed their fix over the festive season.

There is a lovely old railway line that I am setting over 30 new caches on for this event and a number of short but pleasant countryside cache walks in the area.

Yes I know Norfolk is right out of the way but some of us do live here and welcome you all to our neck of the woods.
