Title: Miserden Monster series
Post by: Griff Grof on March 19, 2016, 06:38:01 pm

A new series of 100+ caches in the south Cotswolds, in what looks like a lovely area (judging by the terrain on the map).

Has anyone found any yet? Planning to? What did you think of the route/caches?

Many thanks for this Griff - it looks like a good 'quick' series and plenty of walking. George and I are planning to go down there for a few days and hope to do these loops when the weather improves a bit. Jenny  :)

I found the first 2 today. Was only going to do no 1, as I wanted to drop off a Geocoin that I have had in my possession for too long, and thought that a premium member first cache of a massive series would let the coin get picked up quickly and by serious cacher. The coin wouldn't fit in the first cache, so moved on to the second, which it did.

From my limited experience of the first two, they look to be just as as easy hides as the nearby GCW series, but better*.. in that they were not just film pots.

I think it will be the summer before I could seriously attempt doing a full loop, or possibly doing a @tarmacjohn and doing the lot in one go.

*edit... "but better", not "but no better". Bit of mistake typo there.

Found 20 of the series today on a 7.5 mile walk. Parked at the village hall in Brimpsfield and walked to Caudle Green  through a lovely valley which will be even better when the Bluebells are in flower. Then through woodland to Whiteway before heading back to Brimpsfield. Did numbers 58 to 64 and then 45 to 57.Great walk and looking forward to heading out that way again soon.

How 'dog friendly' is the route Wrighty? ie stiles being our main problem.  Thanks for any info. Jenny.

There was a couple of big stiles but not sure if there was ways a dog could get through/over as not having a dog its not something i look out for.

Thanks Wrighty - if its just a couple of stiles we could manage, if Tilly can't find a way through [ she's a dopey Golden Retriever and panics easily!] Jenny.

I have a similar problem with Archie, he just doesn't do stiles and at 33kg and long legs, it's awkward getting him over and he doesn't like me lifting him :(

Have you done the R’n’R (http://coord.info/GC4MJPD) series? What stiles there are, there is a gate next to them, Archie very much enjoyed this series  ;D

Thanks for this info WT - looks a nice smallish series and not too far from us! We will give it a go when the weather improves a bit!

By the way how do you find out about a 'series' - so far we have only found them when looking at the map and seeing a nice loop of caches, and by chance they can turn out to be a series! Thanks for any help Jenny  :)

Would be nice if CacheWalkers could write a little on the Cache Walks page...  ;D
Then fellow CacheWalkers, and others using the site, could find the information.
