Do we know how many caches there are going to be on the walk.  We are currently 27 caches to reach the magic 20000.  We would love to get our milestone on the 29th at the event.  We have to tailor our caching to be at the right number.

Hello there!
My name is Conrad and most of the year I live in Austria. I've been a teacher of English, History, Geography and the Arts in Austrian schools.
I might be called a lover of the English countryside, which I plan to explore in greater detail in future.
In 2015 I became - a very timid - geocacher (the bug had not caught yet) and it took until 2017 to gather momentum.
I'd love to take part in walks and make acquaintances with other compassionates.

I've been one of those that goes from the front to the back and back to the front, etc trying to chat with most but it's a good point, it is a group walk and we should stick together (hopefully not from mud!). Sorry Ems, there was a steep bit that split us up :(

Moving on as a group at each cache should make the group stick together.

Some good points Griff Grof.

George will make the announcement when the walk is assembled ref its a 'group walk' and for people to try and keep together.
George and Jamie [ our Grandson] will be 'tail end Charlies' and ensure no-one is left behind. They did this on the 2017 walk.

Anyone got any other thoughts on how to manage this problem?

I’m sorry to hear that she didn’t enjoy the walk. It’s not the first time this point has been raised.  :(

I’m sure those at the front aren’t doing this intentionally - they might not realise, it may not cross their minds, or they might think there are enough people behind them to accompany the slower walkers.

My suggestion would be to make an announcement before setting off - something along the lines of “remember it’s a group walk, so we need to stick together and give people time to catch up before moving on”.

Maybe we could count how many people there are before setting off, and check that everyone is at each cache location before announcing that we can move on to the next?

In addition, we could have a few volunteers staying at the back of the group for the duration of the walk.

Last year, Ems (Mrs Jinks) didn't enjoy the walk as those at the front were going too fast and not waiting for those at the back to catch up. Is there anyway to keep the group together this time?

Too far for us to go at this time of year - shame it sounds as though it could be fun. Jenny and George.

Is anyone planning to attend? It's quite a popular event, and I've heard good things about it:

GC8CVNR, this Saturday (Nov 30th), from 11am.
