Caching Resources & Tips / Re: TB Scan Geocaching App
« on: September 06, 2016, 11:35:18 pm »
I've dowloaded it.
Don't find too many TBs, but if I do find one I usually photograph it...
Just wonder if it IS worthwhile upgrading? Price is a 'little' steep.

My main thought is it will be used by the 'Icon' hunters and 'Numbers' crowd, as it makes things so much quicker and easier for them to get the coin/TB numbers and then log.

I suspect the hint is "Using the usual source of information..." Will give you some numbers.  ;)

Haven't checked though!

Checked... No numbers, but does give some answears.

Did you know, the Dave Allen sketch (the race to the graveyard between two funeral parties) was filmed there!  :D

Thanks for this info WT - looks a nice smallish series and not too far from us! We will give it a go when the weather improves a bit!

By the way how do you find out about a 'series' - so far we have only found them when looking at the map and seeing a nice loop of caches, and by chance they can turn out to be a series! Thanks for any help Jenny  :)

Would be nice if CacheWalkers could write a little on the Cache Walks page...  ;D
Then fellow CacheWalkers, and others using the site, could find the information.;sa=page;p=6

CacheWalker TB races / Re: CacheWalker Race To Rio - 2016 TB race

I am so confused! Our TB has moved to Es Effo Bug Hotel in California, but our mileage is only 88 Miles! Have we [ or the people moving the TB on] done something wrong? Thanks for any help/advice. Jenny.

On your TBs page, under the Trackable Options there is Actions which by default shows Mark Item Missing - there is another option in that list of: Recalculate Distance. Try it, it may update the mileage quicker than the systems regular updates.  :)

Scan or photograph the old log, and include the photo with your log, or add a Note log.

I've removed a very wet and full log, photographed it then thrown it in the nearest bin. Then include the photo/photos in the log.

If the previous logs mention wet/full, I add a Needs Maintenance.
If previous logs also include a Needs Maintenance, add a Needs Archived...

From the GS forums:

PlasmaWave, on 03 February 2016 - 07:38 AM, said:
On the advice of Groundspeak's own stats website "MyGeocachingProfile" and the major stats site "Project-GC" I chose to mark my first-to-find caches with **FTF**, which now is showing as 'bolded' FTF (i.e. FTF).

I will be furious if these two stats sites are no longer able to pick-up my FTFs - I have around 2730 FTFs and FTF hunting forms one of my main pleasures when caching.

So, although **FTF** is still showing when you edit logs, it is displayed on cache pages as FTF - is this another case of HQ implementing major changes without seeing through all the consequences for the paying membership!!!

I am not amused!!!!

A newly published cache, and already the/one of the signs that provide answers is missing?  :o

Go for it!

But DON'T admit you've answered without visiting to do the cache.  ;D
(You can admit to knowing/having visited the area previously, but why try to 'pull the wool'?)

I'm surprised they didn't ask for a photo, even though they are optional these days.  ::)

Friday (posting now, as the forum was down!)

Found fourth cache of the year, first in Scotland for the year, and a new County knocked of the list of unfound Counties!
Been to Wales already, but no time for caching...  :(

Also managed to get a decent Furthest North/South to start the year.  ;D

Considering GS seem to be pushing the app/phone side of things, using HTML for emails sure upsets the users using phones for reading emails!
Not too helpful for those reading emails on computers either...  ::)

AND... They plan to remove HTML from logs. Why remove from one part of the site, then ADD it to another?
