Because I published mine before the deadline, I've now been awarded another set of 5, to be published by the 15th Dec - this could be tricky and if I want a Bonus cache, it'll have to be right to the wire now GC England have decided to suspend new caches during lockdown :o

Is that not worth a question/an appeal to the reviewers and/or GCHQ?
At least if you have the 'cache' ready for publication, it's only the 'local laws' for Covid stopping it from being Published?

Opt out!
I do, and use the 'old' way!

Ah-ha.

Notice the "Logging has a new look"

The 'new' way to log Needs Maintenance is:
Go to log the cache, under the logging part there is ! Report a problem
Im not sure if you have to add another type of log - Found, Note, DNF... ?
But, a Found it log, and Report a problem -Needs Maintenance- will post both logs.

If you want the old style logging, click on Opt Out, top right of the page.

We wanted to post a maintenance note on a cache log but couldn't see how to do it - the facility seems to have disappeared, or we are cracking up! Anyone got any ideas?

A Needs Maintenance on a cache you've found, or Owners Maintenance on one of yours?
And how, phone -which app, or website?

Phone logs seem to 'include' Needs Maintenance with your Found It log, as an additional log...

Welcome!
Also not keen on urban caches, but it seems that's all I do these days!

The rules state that the caches must be in place before they are submitted for publishing - does this apply if we are asking for a definite date for publishing? We have all the coordinates and know where the caches will be put and could send the paperwork of, but weather is playing havoc with our plans!

Strictly speaking, yes.
The cache should be in place when you submit the page (You have to tick the box to say so.)

But if you can get the caches out before the event day, who's going to know it wasn't there when the cache page was submitted?

(Promise not to tell!)

General Caching / Re: Changes to the placing of caches/events in the UK
« on: September 21, 2017, 08:37:29 pm »
For anyone who was on the twitter hour last night, this is what I was looking for. I knew I had read something somewhere about new guidelines of placing caches underground.

But is this still valid? I can't see it on the GC.com website now, unless I am looking in the wrong place.

I physically placed a new cave cache in the early hours of this morning. But am now working on obtaining permission. Leckhampton area, if anyone has experience getting permission. I will give it a month of trying. If I succeed it could mean the possible placement of another couple in the area at a later date. If not, then it will mean me heading back to TC or OC.uk again.

Probably not on the GC site, it will be one of those guidelines covered by "Other/local laws/guidelines" and explained in the Wiki page for the UK...

(Although, the not disturbing bats in caves has been used by Reviewers in the US for a while, as there is a bat 'sickness' around in the US)

GS got so wound up by it, Challenges were wiped off their systems completely - talk about throwing your toys out :o

And what did they say at the time... "Better mistakes tomorrow."  :D

General Caching / Re: YOSMs archived
« on: June 15, 2017, 09:08:08 pm »
They've also archived the Cuckoo cache  :(

Surprised there hasn't been more of a 'revolt'? All seems quiet in the YOSM page (you'd expect lots of notes etc!).

All the Archived caches have been locked by Groundspeak.

Seems that they don't know their own cache types...

Locationless.
Find 'something' eg a Triangulation Pillar.
Make it a 'Cache'
The next cacher has to find another Triangulation Pillar and add the coordinates.
The next cacher has to find a third Triangulation Pillar...
Previously found and logged Triangulation Pillars can not get you a 'Found' log.

Virtual Cache.
Go to coordinates and provide the required information.
Same thing can be found by many cachers.

YOSM is an oddity in that it IS a Virtual, but the coordinates can be changed, and previous coordinates can still be logged as a find...
Had a new cache age been set up for each Pillar, would things be diffrent?

As for "Pocket Cache"
Do YOU want to walk around with this all day?

Also Archived in the cull is Lighthouse Hunt - Brighton/Shoreham-on-Sea https://coord.info/GCH600
Which, despite saying "Moving Cache" in the description, has always been the same Light House in Shoreham...  :(

Was going to ask if you were going to retrieve it, but see you already have!
Keep it, or re-mission it?

Nice to see it still going, and all those miles... Shame no-one added any photos.  :(

I usually try to add a photo for any TBs I move or Discover. Seems very few bother to these days.
