General Caching / Re: Can you do these in one day?
« on: March 24, 2012, 11:21:22 am »
Definately too much in my opinion for one day. You will be covering something like 18 miles and it is quite uppity and downy.

Cachewalker challenge lived up to it's name the day we attempted it. We were up to our waist in snow at one point.

Walks General / Re: Where is this?...
« on: March 22, 2012, 11:27:19 pm »
I know exactly where it is, I wll remember that cache forever. You can probably just notice something on the floor in front of me. It is a memorial to a small boy, Tommy Jones, aged 5 who lost his life on the hill after getting lost on a winters night.

It is in the Brecon Beacons not far off the Pen-Y-Fan Horseshoe. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCGJHW

Just after we found the cache we were met by about 20 SAS soldiers dressed in full combats and with weapons out on an operation.

Hmmmm...... Pen-y-Fan horseshoe, now there's an idea

Well done Griff, it took me two attempts to find that cache.

Any ideas which one you are doing for your 2000?

General Caching / It is quiet around here

With reference to Griff saying that it is quiet around here I am going to add (if anyone is remotely interested) I have been doing a lot of extra work at nights  :(  and am going away this weekend so I won't be posting again till Monday at the earliest.

Have a nice weekend without me  :D

So, if we go to Snowdon, I'm going via Garn - Rock Cannon 3, as this is one of only seven caches in the UK that has a D/T of 1.5/5 8)

I suppose as I am heading towards the end of my D/T grid I better take the opportunity to grab that one as well.

Almost a carbon copy of what I am doing, I am going to try and fit in a climb up Tryfan whilst I am there.

I will almost certainly be staying in Bangor Travelodge, just waiting for Omis to confirm if he is coming so that I can book the room.

Thought it best not to commit to a route, after all we might change our mind as there is still 3 months to go.
