Caching Events / 4* Severn bore (past event)
« on: February 05, 2014, 03:03:14 pm »
Over on Cotswold Caching I've started a thread about meeting up for the predicted 4* Severn Bore on the morning of Sunday 2 March.  See http://cotswoldcaching.boards.net/thread/397/4-severn-bore-event and making it an event cache.  For more information as things develop then head over there or feel free to PM through either forum or GC.com.

There's a 4* bore daytime at the weekend coming up relatively soon - Sunday 2 March.  If river levels are lower than they were at the weekend then this might be worth a look.

BananaSauce's GC.com username is, I think, 'Benign Source'.  Together with his 2 geokids he produces the weekly Oh Beep! geocaching podcast (http://www.ohbeep.com/).

No problem L8HNB.  I've got all the OS sheets for the UK on my PC in Memory Map.  If you need any more assistance here let me know.  If you'd prefer to contact me directly, my caching email address is public on my GC.com profile (same username there as on here).

Hello / Re: Two new members introducing ourselves

Afternoon Keith & Kathy.

Welcome to the hobby/obsession!

You might find http://www.handicaching.com/ of some use.

I know that a cacher by the name of Cache on Wheels (Heather?) uses a mobility scooter to cache.  If you can track her down she may be able to give you some helpful pointers and share her experiences with you.  Her GC.com profile (through which you can contact her) is at http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=67f56150-3ee3-4a9c-acaa-a7aad35a2420.

I note you're based in Cheltenham.  Mzeb0nga has a variety of what should be some easy to access August events in both Cheltenham & Gloucester, which he's bookmarked at http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=63fc3ba8-f4cd-4c00-81bf-cf0fd3aef208.

There are also some CITO (cache in, trash out) events coming up soon in the area, such as the ones in Hesters Way Park and also at a nearby nature reserve (http://coord.info/GC4H3V2 & http://coord.info/GC4H3V2).

There are also semi-regular meets in the area, usually in pubs, such as this one - http://coord.info/GC4HK0K

I hope the above has been of some use/interest to you.

Happy caching!

I use a Garmin Oregon 450, with an old yellow Garmin Extrex for the 5yo geokid.

The Android phone is there as backup or if I'm without the GPS.

There are two, each within approx. 160 m of my place.  One's a traditional (mine) and the other a multi (I didn't get the FTF on that).
