CacheWalker Help & Info / Data Protection and Privacy
« on: May 18, 2018, 10:49:37 pm »
As you might be aware, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on May 25.

Whilst we are not a company or a business, we do store some personal data. We can assure you that we look after your data securely.

Data we might have on record includes (to the best of our knowledge):

1) IP address
2) Personal email address
3) Username
4) Birthday - only if you edited your profile to enter this
5) Social media account details - only if you edited your profile to enter this

With the help of our forum service provider, a privacy policy is now available on our website, which can be found here: https://bit.ly/2wSLzaO

It is extensive and covers all possible ground - the vast majority of it refers to how the service might use your data rather than CacheWalker itself. Please read it carefully to understand how the forum uses and protects any information you provide, either upon registration and/or as subsequent profile edits.

If you do not agree with this policy, you are, of course, welcome to delete your account (at any point in time). You have the right to be forgotten. Upon deletion, all traces of your IP address and other profile information will be removed and your username will also disappear on any posts you have made on the forum.

If you are still a forum member on May 25, you confirm that you agree with and accept the new privacy policy.

CacheWalker TB races / CacheWalker TB Race 2018
« on: January 02, 2018, 12:00:49 pm »
This is the place for all discussion (unless you think your point deserves its own topic) for the
CacheWalker TB Race: Signal on Tour (name TBC)

The TB race will begin at 0:00 January 8th, and will end on 0:00 December 25th.
Participants received a special trackable tag from volunteer reviewers at the 2017 CacheWalker Twixmas Bash. These tags will be placed in caches and the TB which travels the furthest will win!
If you want, you can attach a Signal/frog related item to your TB tag, but there is no requirement to do so.

The Rules:

  • The race officially begins at 0:00 on January 8th 2018. However, TBs can be added to the race at any point after this start date.
  • The race is on until 0:00 December 25th 2018
  • The TB with the most miles on this date will be declared the 2018 Winner at the 2018 Twixmas Bash (apparently there will be one!)
  • CacheWalkers may not move their own tags along.
  • Therefore, TBs must be dropped & collected by different cachers (if moved on by the same cacher only the FIRST jump will be counted).
  • The owner of the TB must not be present with the cacher who's moving it IF they both visit the same cache together for the drop.
  • 'Discover/Visted' logs do not count.
  • CacheWalkers can only have ONE TB each in the race (unless a couple/family are wishing to have their own).
  • If your TB goes missing YOU ARE OUT OF THE RACE - you cannot re-release another trackable tag as part of this year's race.

The official TB-run page for the race is now up and running here - CWTBR 2018

How to join the race:
Please email griffgrof@cachewalker.co.uk or Griff Grof via his profile with the public Trackable ID (TBxxxx), that you find on the 'Details' page of your TB on Geocaching.com.
There no limit for the number of participants.
You can still request to take part after the start date, but the sooner the better/further!

Please name your TB in this format: CW: Signal on Tour (your caching name)

Let the race (and discussion) begin - 3,2,1... GO!

CacheWalker TB races / CacheWalker SuperBike Challenge 2017
« on: January 11, 2017, 05:19:58 pm »
This is the place for all discussion (unless you think your point deserves its own topic) for the
CacheWalker SuperBike Challenge 2017

The TB race will begin at 0:00 February 1st, and will end on 0:00 December 25th.
Participants are asked to attach toy motorbikes ('SuperBikes') to a Travel Bug. If you have trouble finding a SuperBike but would like to take part, let us know!

The Rules:

  • The race officially begins at 0:00 on February 1st 2017. However, TBs can be added to the race at any point after this start date.
  • The race is on until 0:00 December 25th 2017
  • The TB with the most miles on this date will be declared the 2017 Championship Winner at the 2017 Twixmas Bash (apparently there will be one!)
  • CacheWalkers may not move their own SuperBikes along.
  • If your TB goes missing YOU ARE OUT OF THE RACE - you cannot re-release another SuperBike with your copy tag as part of this year's race.

The official TB-run page for the race is now up and running here - CWSBC 2017

How to join the race:
Please email griffgrof@cachewalker.co.uk or Griff Grof via his profile with the public Travel Bug ID (TBxxxx), that you find on the 'Details' page of your TB on Geocaching.com. He will provide you with the password to join the race (which might be posted here instead if people want?)
There no limit for the number of participants.
Please note, you can only take part if your TB has a SuperBike attached to it! (Hopefully you can find one easily but let us know if you can't and we can mail one out to you!)
Therefore, you can still request to take part after the start date, but the sooner the better/further!

Please name your TB in this format: CWSBC 2017 - [your caching name]
