Talk about it here. ;D The discussion continues
-
So, we talk about this at the Leap Frog Event then?
-
You bet we will ;D
We should also announce, sorry, LAUNCH the new forum at it, so cacher's from the area know about this next chapter for CacheWalker
-
Are you going to print some badges and cards to give away :)
-
I would do ANYTHING for CacheWalker :)
But still no printer ink.... will print some off in school at lunch, if you really want.
PS Walk Tall - sent an e mail about the lift ;)
-
It was only an idea to promote CacheWalker at the Event.
We could always speak to people :o ;D
-
And what an idea! Don't worry, will print of 20 or so in full colour tomorrow lunch ;D
-
My TB tags are on their way ;D
Watch this space ;)
-
Remember what Mrs Wrighty said about Mr Wrighty sorting some bikes out - no rush yet.
Saying that, we should have a date in mind for the race to start, so people know when they need to get a TB ready for?
-
I think April 1st? ???
-
What lines are we competing in? Who's going to oversee it all?
-
We can use tb-run.com (http://www.tb-run.com/index.php) for the race and they already have a template for the type of race we have had before, quote:
In principal just as the normal distance race. But here, we only consider the first 'placed' log of every cacher. This prevents that cachers keeping trackables, dipping them in every cache and helping them to get high mileage. In case there is more than one log on the first day we will consider the one with the highes mileage on that day.
Other than that, the normal 'distance' race rules apply:
TB needs to get as many km as possible in a given time. There is a start and end date. Winner is the TB that has the highest km count at the end of the timeframe. New TBs as well as TBs that have already travelled can participate in the run
Take a look, I've already got a user id but it is free ;D
-
Good idea ;D
You're in charge of the rules then?
-
I don't mind setting it up on tb-run, then you can link the page to here and also on your trackable page as well.
Here's an example of a race from New Zealand back to Bristol (http://www.tb-run.com/show-race-HOMEWARDBOUND2012) that I've got a trackable in ;D
-
Ok, thanks :)
My original question was which lines we were in, such as, in the 2008 race:
Quoting wrighty on his bikes page:
In a race with Mrs Wrightys,Schnarffs and Bikermels superbikes.
Bikermels and Schnarffs started on the front row Mr and Mrs Wrightys starting on the second row.
Third row now added, the riders are Thetoadnet and Csi-Wellesbourne.Fourth row,Mr and Mrs Delta68.Fifth row, Mr and Mrs Midnight Ramblers.
So what rows are we in this time? Most recent ones can be seen here:
The CacheWalker SuperBike Challenge 2009
The Runners and Riders
Front Row Second Row Third Row
schnarff (TB21MTX) wrighty (TB2135P) thetoadnet (TB2135C)
bikermel76 (TB21MTV) Mrs wrighty (TB21MTK) csi-wellesbourne (TB2135F)
Fourth Row Fifth Row Sixth Row
Mr Midnight Rambler (TB1QVX7) Mr L8HNB (TB21H5C) Lydford Locators (TB1D1M8)
Mrs Midnight Rambler (TB1QVXH) Mrs L8HNB (TB19D46) Dobunnis (TB18XY6)
Seventh Row Eighth Row Ninth Row
Grizzly Pair (TB2AZWA) Saltercrease Rangers (TB27BV5) Stag Ramblers (TB2K3T2)
Walktall (TB193XM) Malpas Wanderer (TB27A3V) Heffalump007 (TB1VBW4)
Tenth Row
Dan Druff (TB2JV7Y)
Are we even having rows this time?
-
What lines are we competing in? Who's going to oversee it all?
Right, you meant lines not lines i.e. what position on the starting grid rather than how we doing it :o
Are we going to use lines this time, some may want to use a TB that is already out there?
-
I think just do it all together, no lines, anyone object?
-
none here ;D
-
My TB tags have arrived, so are ready to being when you all are :)
-
My TB tags have arrived, so are ready to being when you all are :)
???
-
I meant I'm good to go whenever the superbikes are ready ;D
As you said before, no rush :)
-
Any dates come to mind yet?
Looking at photos of Twixmas 08, you had a checkered flag up for the awards being handed out, could we do that again this year? ;)
-
Shock horror, I forgot about this :o
Now where's my TB ??? ::)
-
My new batch of un activated TB tags are nestling on top of the glass cabinet in the lounge, one of which is awaiting to join up with a SuperBike, and travel the world ;D
When the race does get underway, I think we should set it up on tb-run, to save one of us the hassle of keeping up to date, and we could link to it through a custom tab on here (did you know I can add pages to this to make it more of a website? :o)
-
When we are all ready to go, I can add a direct tab from these forums to the tb-run page ;D - you'll notice it when the time comes...
-
You started this race yet?
-
Not yet, as some of us are currently waiting for our new bikes....
-
OK i would love to join in if possable?
-
You'd be more than welcome, just make sure you have an un-activated travel bug tag ;) And then we'll have to wait and see from Wrighty when the bikes are coming...
If not, then there's always the 2013 race - they're meant to last a whole year, but this is going to be a mini, quick race ;D Then at Midnight December 31st, everyone starts their count at 0 - THE PRIZE IS THE CWSBC TROPHY :o - yours for a whole year!
-
Yes i got a spare TB so ill look forward to hearing about the start :D
-
That's great ;D
Just check here for all the latest :)
-
That reminds me, I must get a TB.
-
:D
Has Omis already been to Australia? You could have got some great mileage there...
-
Yes, he is there now >:(. I had already thought of that.
-
Ah, so unlucky ;) It would have been good though, you deserve to be in with a good chance of winning after the fantastic Butchers Bash! ;D
Walk Tall is going to set up the race on tb-run.com, so this time no one will have to keep track themselves.
I am currently writing up the rules, only some minor changes, and will post here in a bit... now you all wait....
-
Here are the rules I've written, feel free to discuss/add any you'd like. The final rules will be published exactly one week before the race kicks off.
The CacheWalker SuperBike Challenge 2012
1) The race is on until midnight December 25th 2012 (i.e. any logs which Groundspeak dates 26/12/09 will be ignored)
2) Cachers taking part may not move their own TBs along
3) The Rider with the most miles as of 25/12/12 will be declared the 2012 Championship Winner at the 2012 Twixmas Bash - our say is final!
Then we'll start again next year!
Can all CacheWalkers who want to take part please say so between now and the kick off date, so we know who to include when setting everything up.
-
I've not missed it then being off-line for a while ??? ::)
-
As the race dawns upon us (next few weeks probably) I have started to put together the race page - when WT has set it up on tb-run then the page will take you there.
Just use the tabs above to navigate - you know, the tabs which say "Gallery" "Log out" etc, under the "Hello XXX" beneath the logo - you'll find them now. Also find an about page, not about the CWSBC, but about CacheWalker so people visiting can get some more info.
Don't want to look for them in the tabs above? Then find the links here:
CWSBC 2012 - ( visit link (http://cachewalker.createaforum.com/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=2))
About CacheWalker - ( visit link (http://cachewalker.createaforum.com/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=1))
-
Right. Got my TB's.
All I need now is my SuperBike ;D
-
Right. Got my TB's.
All I need now is my SuperBike ;D
That's good. Same situation here...
-
The CWSBC 2012 will officially begin FRIDAY 20TH APRIL 2012 at 23:59 - seconds before Saturday
Come to Snowshill Arms @ 7:00pm tonight to collect your bikes, if you haven't already got one. The race will be set up on TB-run ASAP. All bikes must be geared up and ready to go at that time, so the ones out there should get a little head start - the new ones can be placed in a cache any point after then
:) I'm so excited :)
-
My bike has been activated ;D It is TB4KDHG
I used the same title format as the old bikes - "Cachewalker's SuperBike Challenge (Griff Grof)" and also set the date as 21st of April as that is when the race begins.
I'm going to add details when the race is set up :) Am I correct in saying this years racers are:
tarmacjohn
walktall
Mr Wrighty
Mrs Wrighty
Griff Grof
Did I miss anyone out? Are the Wrighties going to use new bikes?
-
Tarmacjohn's Super Bike is revved up and ready to go - TB4JJ4Y
-
Does the race begin on Saturday @ 0:00 then?
-
WT - I'll set the race up on tb-run and add the bikes as they get posted here :)
-
WT - I'll set the race up on tb-run and add the bikes as they get posted here :)
O! OK if you want, no great shakes :D
-
Ok then :) Unless you want to?
-
Can I put that the race begins on Saturday? Will we all be ready by then? Is your new bike set up WT?
-
Right, here's the deal:
I'm about to set it up on tb-run :) Can I please have a list of all TBs that are going to participate (don't worry TJ, got yours).
Also, do you want it to be a distance race? Or a FAIR distance race - this is in principal just as the normal distance race. But here, we only consider the first 'placed' log of every cacher. This prevents that cachers keeping trackables, dipping them in every cache and helping them to get high mileage. In case there is more than one log on the first day we will consider the one with the highes mileage on that day. ???
Also WT, can I add TBs at a later point if the race is private?
My bike is geared up to go ;D

-
>Also WT, can I add TBs at a later point if the race is private?
My understanding is yes you can.
Now I need to find my TB's - wonder which box they ended up in :o
-
Good luck ;) :D
I'll say the race begins at Midnight today (or is that tomorrow) so we can get our bikes out any time after that. Will add the Wrighties when they confirm if they're using old or new.
Might e mail him now.
-
Ok, didn't know that. YOU join the race when I provide you with a password. :)
Website says:
I have just initiated a new Travel Bug(R) race on tb-run.com. If you like, take a look and join my race using the following link:http://www.tb-run.com/join.php5?run=THECWSBC2012 (http://www.tb-run.com/join.php5?run=THECWSBC2012)
The race is marked as 'not public'. You need the following password to join * (this means that you can only join with the password - this stops random people joining)
Cheers,
Griff Grof
*I will PM the password to those I know are taking part: Wrighty, walktall and tarmacjohn.
THE RACE IS ON FROM NOW - Get your bikes out as soon as you can!
-
tarmacjohn and my bike have been added. No password needed for you TJ.
The race has not yet begun, think it actually starts at Midnight.
-
The race has begun ;D
Find the CWSBC link at the top to take you to the page. You'll all get a head start, as I won't be placing mine in a cache for another week or so. I want to place it in a popular traditional, and not finding any of those tomorrow :)
Please post your bikes when activated here so I can add them to the race :)
If you can't find the race in the tabs, visit it here: (visit link (http://www.tb-run.com/show-race.php?run=THECWSBC2012))
Only me and TJ so far ;)

Description
The CacheWalker SuperBike Challenge is back. The last race took place in 2008, but now with a lot more cachers in the area, we thought it was about time to bring the race back! There are only a few of us racing this year, but hopefully a lot more next year. The winner is the TB with the most miles as of 25/12/12 - then, the winner will be announced at the CacheWalker Twixmas Bash 2012 - and will go home with the CWSBC trophy!
THE RACE IS ON!
Rules that were added by CacheWalker
1) The race is on until midnight December 25th 2012 (i.e. any logs which Groundspeak dates 26/12/12 will be ignored)
2)'Riders' may not move their own TBs along
3)The Rider with the most miles on this date will be declared the 2012 Championship Winner at the 2012 Twixmas Bash (apparently there will be one! )
4)Virtual drops will not be counted - TBs must be dropped & collected by different Cachers (if moved on by the same Cacher only the first jump will be counted)
5)'Discover' logs will not count for Cacher count
-
Going to be another week now, not bothering going caching in the rain tomorrow :o
Going to continue the search to find a new laptop instead ;D
-
It's been pretty wet all week and next week doesn't look much better but I've found my spare TB's, so need to set one up ready for me to drop off in a cache attached to my red superbike ;D
-
Any updates for some bikes to add to the race?
-
I've got one I must activate but not been to any caches that I could fit it into of recent :(
-
I would love to get my SuperBike going, caching really seems to have taken a back seat the last couple of weeks due to work and Scout arrangements. I might get chance to get out this weekend but only if it rains and I can't do the garden.

Exactly the same here, with being busy for caching, weather and my dad doing the garden.
-
No caching this week either :o
Has to be next week, before my dad goes and then he won't be back until July :o
-
Looks like it will be July now, another weekend with no caching....
-
I know the feeling, seems caching has taken a back seat for the moment :( there's even a FTF close by and I haven't yet been out to it (perhaps later today) :o
Update:
I did go out to the shops today, so got the FTF which was published on the 11 May and no one else went to find it :o ??? :o
-
My Superbike is now out and travelling, left in on the side of the Malvern Hills.
God speed ;D
-
Looks like this will be an easy ride for TJ so far (until I get my bike going, that's when he better watch out ;) ;D) but until then, are there any other bikes to add to the race?
25 km on the clock for TJ now :)
-
Romping away with it ;D ;D ;D
Just a shame I didn't get it in time to give to Omis49 when he went to Australia
-
Yes, you'd have won the race for sure then!
You never know, when mines out it may catch up ;D
-
Mine has caught up, and gone further than TJ's in its first drop :P ;D That trophy will be mine :) (who's going to contact Dobunnies asking to have it back? :D - or will it be a new trophy?)
Any new bikes to add to the race yet ::) Who will push mine back into the pits? ???
-
I have a sneaky feeling I'm going to win this race now ;D 8) All will be revealed, even bigger chance if it's only me and TJ taking part :D
-
>:(
TJ back in the lead now ;) :'(
-
Can't find my spare TB's >:(, was going to release mine at a certain big Event but ran out of time with all the other plans I had for my trip up norf.
-
Huge Congratulations to Griff Grof (is that me? Haha) who was crowned CWSBC 2012 Champion at today's Twixmas Bash!
Griff's bike set off in July, and has traveled 950 miles in that time, with tarmacjohn in second place at 250 miles.
That's another race over for another year, and now it's time to prepare for 2013's race. Could all participants please email me their tracking number so I can add you to the race.
