I've now written my blog post reviewing my year's caching -
http://griffgrof.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/2013s-caching-in-review_31.htmlIn summary,
To quote my profile exactly:
"This year (2013) I hope to get to 1500 (2000 would be even better!) finds, and get more than 510 finds throughout the year. My biggest challenge is to, again, find a futher 100 more geocaches by Wrighty, my favorite cache hider. Along the way, I'll be trying to beat previous stats records. I hope to have even more time to go caching this year."
- I did get to 1500, but I really set myself the target to get to 2000. I was a bit uninspired by caching at the start of this year, so I didn't go as much as I'd like to...
- I found 229 caches this year, my worst total yet after 2011's 325, not above last year's 510. Back in 2010, I found 218 in just over 2 months
- I reckon I found about 20 more Wrighty caches, no where near the hundred!
- I did, however, achieve some new stats: five 5/5s as apposed to none is what comes to mind. I filled in more of my grid doing more unique caches too.
- I did not have more time to go caching this year, well, I did, but, to be honest - most local loops haven't been worth bothering with, and we didn't have the time to travel further afield every weekend
I feel this year has been more about quality rather than quantity. My first cache of the year was a cracker on Fan y Big (Brecon Beacons) and one of my last was a Below Above. All the series (bar one) this year that I've done have been great, unlike previous years, selecting them by their positive comments and favourite points rather than
I can now announce my
Cache of the Year is Below Above - Fallen Monarch (GC2GAMT). Reasons why on that bookmark list as well as my blog
