You can now bury caches - updated guidelines
Griff Grof:
Link to updated guidelines
So, you can now bury caches if you have permission :o
Not something I think should be done!
Some interesting changes/additions here.
walktall:
--- Quote --- If a cache owner shows that they can’t keep up with the maintenance of their existing caches, they might lose their hiding privileges.

:o
--- Quote ---Events cannot be held in or near transportation centers, such as airports, cruise ship ports, and train stations.
--- End quote ---
So would the 10th SideTracked Event at Evesham station car park now not have been allowed ???
Griff Grof:
That's shocking about losing hiding privileges. I wonder if that means forever or for a given amount of time?
Yes, probably that Sidetracked event wouldn't be published now.
Plus Wrighty's Cache Dispenser, a great idea, wouldn't be allowed: "cache pages cannot require or encourage players to place more caches." ::) :o :(

That one just seems odd to me - play our game but don't encourage others to as well :o

Ran this poll on CacheWalker's Twitter:
So, you can now bury caches (w/ permission), as per the updated Geocaching guidelines. Good idea or bad idea?
Good - glad it's now allowed -- 36%
Bad - shouldn't be allowed -- 64%
There were 25 votes, so fairly representative.
Some comments:
@StartPlayer: "Awful idea, people will try digging when they don't need to and damage area cache is hidden. Never burried is a key thing for me."
@Flapjack_Jules: "I think the idea is that caches can be sunk in a hole in the ground (& eg covered with a stone), not that you actually have to dig for them.
I personally agree with the first comment - GS haven't thought this through, the environment could well be damaged. Even if they're sunk in a hole, it still needs to be dug...
