Getting tired...
« on: January 29, 2013, 07:28:05 pm »
... Of flicking through my cache pages and finding stings on DNFs on lots of them. Pressured by reviewers to replace them. Just made one unarchive one they did after I missed their 'warning email'. Constant NM logs filling my inbox. And DNF logs.

What's the fun in this game  ??? ::)

Anyone want to possibly adopt any of my caches? (I might not let this happen, but keep possibilities open!)

Is anyone else tired of this CO game?  :'(

We all must wonder how wrighty does it with all his caches :)

I know what you mean Griff, especially this time of year when it is more difficult to get out and perhaps not as enjoyable. On the plus side, you do get comments from cachers saying it's nice to see well maintained caches, as well as their enjoyment finding the caches and walk :)

I've got to do a complete walk round my Long Compton caches, after doing some maintenance on bits a while ago. Hopefully will get a good enough day to do the walk round with a maintenance kit and take Archie for a walk ;D

Yes.

Wescote Wander is perfect... No problems!

Snowshill Scramble has a couple missing, and several full logs

And individual caches such as A-Another and a walk in the woods seem to be missing  :-\

I want to spend my few caching weekends these days finding... NOT maintaining   >:(

I find the caches on walks easier to maintain, personally - but you don't really want to be doing the Snowshill Scramble in this weather!  :o

On a more positive note, once I get on top of my maintenance I want to place a new series, possibly for a CacheWalker event!  ;D IF I get on top of my maintaining, I say  ::)

I know exactly how you feel, my Lenches series is in desperate need of an overhaul. Won't be a problem once the light nights are here but I really can't be bothered in the dark.

I like to keep one weekend day free and that means I only get one day to go and find some.

Yep. And if there are caches to maintain, that's one week less finding them. Even worse for me, as my dad is often working/traveling on weekends, and Wacky Races&co are no longer here to take me on such occasions and vice versa.

I feel my series' need an overhaul too. I don't want to archive them. They've received such positive comments, Westcote Wander Bonus is something like the 80th most favorited cache in UK  :o :o (more than 60 FP's!!)

Just a case of getting it done  ::)

Feel like I've done something wrong with Snowshill Scramble... Westcote Wander has required hardly any work!   :o (and been 10 times as popular, on not as nice a walk)

I don't envy you having to look after so many. I have to say well done to you to keeping so many in order for as long as you have. I would offer to look after some of them, but they are a bit out of my immediate area.

All of the few active caches I own, apart from two on another listing site, are within walking distance from my home, so I don't have to spend too much time attending to them.

we are all ia pretty friendly bunch, how about when we are planning our walks, if we happen to know we are crossing by/doing a partiular walk/cache that has maintenance needs ... we contact the owner and offer to check it out / do the maintenance?

depending if there is a cost... settle up at one of the events of come to an arrangement with the owner. We have sorted a few caches here and there with logs / cleaning out / drying off etc... and others have been kind enough to sort a few of ours..

just a thought?

We all must wonder how wrighty does it with all his caches :

This is one reason my finds total is not as high as one would expect after nearly seven years of geocaching. Now i might be a bit bias but i believe my caches are on good walks which i enjoy and if maintenance is needed i know i will have a good time/walk whist doing so.In fact i walked the Power to the Cachewalker series yesterday and glad i did as number seven had gone :'(

I normally carry a few cheap bits to repair caches but that's a good idea between us, as we do meet up once in a while and could get reimbursed for more expensive repairs :)

Thank you, good to know :)

I might drag myself out to maintain and replace a couple of Snowshill Scramble caches tomorrow. Won't be able to walk the whole thing any time soon though, as TJ said with his Lenches  :D

Well (other than adding a bit more glue to one) Snowshill Scramble is back in perfect condition, after I finally got out to maintain the caches in trouble today - replaced three, and enabled #15 (which had been disabled since July then archived by the reviewer and unarchived, so it was overdue).

But then I come home to find one of Westcote Wander seems to be missing  >:( - you can't escape it  :'(
