It is about the numbers
« on: January 20, 2015, 10:14:46 am »
Was reading comments from the new GS "Be a Part of What’s Next for Geocaching" and one chap was talking about their Team SageBrushers power series. Well if you want to get your numbers up, perhaps a holiday here ;D

Yerington, Nevada Home of the worlds largest Power run
Quote
The trail we have is located in a very small town and we brought over 500,000 thousand dollars to the local community here with the cachers coming in from every corner of the world last year.. this isn't just a small run it is now over 6500 with 10,000 hides coming soon. The whole community here loves the cachers and the cater to them. We have a Large Marquee that welcomes Geocachers in the Middle of Downtown. We have restaurants that give cachers discounts. We built this town up to love the Cachers and to take care of them.

Here's one of them as a quick link to the area: TS 1142

Will look at the series properly later on and comment.

For now I just picked up on this bit from TS 1142 linked to by @walktall

...that doesn't sound like a very safe vehicle.

Yes I noticed that and thought an odd description for a cycle or motor bike

Nice to see that caching is benefitting a local area and getting a good reputation  :)

It says Nevada, is this the ET highway trail or a different one?

Not ET but several trails: TS, Eagle, WATO, WAF, BBTS, OML and others. Take a look Griff :)

I think the title of this thread says it all.

If I could afford to visit somewhere in North America in the near future Nevada would not be my first choice of destination. A single cache find next to the high school my mother once attended would mean more to me than 6000+ finds in a desert. There's a challenge cache just down the road from where she used to live too that caught my eye being the closest hide to her old house.

Fair play to the setters though, I wouldn't want to spend that much time setting and maintaining (yes I know power trails seem to have different rules about drop downs so not so hard to maintain). And however much I say it's not about the numbers, if anyone wants to organise a trip and will pay for my ticket, I won't say no ;D
