Looking at it, I don't see too much wrong with it - it is the Cheltenham Circular, and Cheltenham is surrounded by hills, so the walk doesn't look too bad - they have all been found anyway excluding one and the bonus.

Notice who got FTF on the Wherigo - without "Going the distance" - how on earth did you do that JJ - was it by accident?  :D

One to watch for now I think....

Numbers 26,27,40,42,47,59,71,82,94 and 95 still not found.

Oh - I didn't notice so many  :o

Now that does indicate the poor quality of the hides, the popularity of the CC, or both...

You can also add no 23 to the not found list or should that be the missing list.

Raggeh posted a note for CCCC001: Welcome to the Racecourse (Traditional Cache) at 7/15/2012

Log Date: 7/15/2012
Thought I'd write a note on cache #001 as it seemed appropriate!

I attempted the entire series today.

It was 5am and I started the route at #006 (easy parking and I've already got #'s 003-005 as they've been adopted into the CCCC series) and worked my way clockwise.  Unfortunately the route at the moment, is savage.  It's incredibly muddy in places - after all, it IS summer - and incredibly wet in others.  My walking boots just couldn't take the punishment (mainly down to hunting for #035 ankle deep in water) and I was wet through from the knee down.

I got a total of 7 DNFs out of 29 attempted caches (24%, ouch!).  The lengthy and fruitless searches put me way off the pace of an estimated 15 hours, and by the time I was sitting between #'s 037 and 038 drying my feet, I estimated it would take 20+ hours.  That's a long time.  That and not wanting to suffer the consequences of Trench Foot, I decided to give in and make the 6km hike (on the roads) back to the car.  On the plus side, the sun came out, and my boots were on their way to drying nicely.

Not wanting to put the hard work that went into creating this series down, I do have a few niggles.  Some caches are mislabeled size wise - nanos are not micros, and micros are not smalls - it makes a difference!  Some caches needed hints, whilst others needed better (or just less complicated) ones.  There were also several occasions where the co-ords seemed inaccurate.

So, I attempted to GeoSmash this special mega-series, but instead, this mega-series GeoSmashed me.

:o :o :o :o :o :o Our comments have been justified  :D What do you all think about that?!!

Yes, the logs have been quite amusing  :D

You'd think they would have come out with an amazing loop, wouldn't you?  :o

Looks like Foraging 5 managed to complete more than half of the series- any good from what you saw?  ???

Well done for doing the amount you did, and under such heat  ;D

The heat beat us!! We made it to no 62 around 4pm, having started just after 6 am at the racecourse. It took nearly 1 1/2 hours to make it back through town from the A40, back to the race course car park. We were wobbling all over the place.

The walk itself has its surprises, and great views, we could have done more but so many of the caches have co-ords that are way out, and with obscure or no clues at all it is very difficult in thick undergrowth, that has now grown, to enable a good search.
In some areas the route does get a little confusing baring no resemblance to the O.S map.

Difficult to know how to rate this, as can fully understand with over 110 caches and 26.2 miles or pathways to meander, there's bound to be a few problems.
8 out of 10 for the route so far. But only 6 out of 10 for the cache, hides. Whether they were put out in a hurry or not, or bad weather but some of the co-ords are way off the mark. sometimes after a few attempts and a number of minutes, the gps can get you a little closer, but when doing this sort of distance, the minutes do count. we estimated at least another 7-8 hours for the remaining caches.

Oh well, we gave it a shot... but it was just so so so hot. We did the sensible thing in not carrying on.

For those thinking of doing this.. plan over 2 days, and wait until cache owners have sorted co-ords, undergrowth covered caches, missing caches etc.. out first.

Thank you very much for confirming our concerns raised earlier in the thread   ;D At least it seems the walk isn't too bad, but perhaps as you said, better to wait for everything to be sorted  :)
