I have read through now the blog article and the forum update link and comments. I have to say that I struggled to concentrate on what was written throughout because my mind kept dwelling on some of the first lines I read in the blog:

What is Geocaching Labs?
This is our R&D department. This team is always working to create new and innovative ideas that make geocaching more fun and exciting.

So they have a department for this. Not just one person I would guess by the use of the word 'department'. I wonder how much groundspeak pay their employees for a role in that team? I would be interested in taking a role of being paid for a subject that I enjoy, and not actually having to do very much work. I hope that does not sound too unkind, but honestly in the past year, or longer even, what new and innovative ideas have been implemented to make geocaching more fun and exciting by groundspeak?

I can understand what they are trying to do with lab caches. But as you say walk tall, they should fix what they have already.

I don't want to compare their implementation methods of this new cache type to their now deleted challenges, but one similarity has struck me already which is that it has been released unfinished, it is flawed, and so implemented poorly once again. Viewing of found lab caches on other peoples profiles is only working for some people. Here is one example of someone's profile who has found some. I can see that there are seven lab caches, but I can't view them.

I have also read that lab caches are logged by entering a code. A bit like CC codes on TerraCaching and OpenCaching I would imagine. I can only imagine until I get to log one myself. I have read that people have already given these codes to others so that they can log the caches. You would of though that they would of of scripted the new caches so that the codes could only be entered at specific locations to cut the log cheating of these new types. Or maybe that's just me that thinks that would of been a good idea. Maybe some of you can think of an even better idea. But they don't really need our ideas, because they have a department for this.

If I am sounding catty this night it's because I have been left with the housework whilst the better half is out enjoying herself at a stage showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show I did have my day out on Wednesday though

One other thing I noticed through the above articles was something I had not seen before on event caches. This might not be new, but if it is I think it is a bit strange.. I looked up the Block Party cache page, and I saw it had 1273 attends. That's pretty impressive, but nothing unusual about that, there was sure to be quite a few people there. But there are also 15 finds. How does that work, does anyone know? Attends and finds on the same event cache. Confused.
