Create a Free, Personalized Geocache
« on: February 04, 2014, 08:02:02 am »
"During the month of February, Geocaching Premium Members will help explore the frontier of the geocaching experience.

You're among the first adventurers to test a brand new feature that lets you flex your geocaching creativity like never before.

You can create a personalized, one-time geocache. It's free, and time is already running out. What are you waiting for?"

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this  :o  ???

What do you think about it?  ???

I had a quick read of this last night and my initial thought is that it is only loggable by one person. So if I understand correctly if you find it and don't log it straight away someone else might beat you to it.

I hasten to add that I only very quickly read it so the previous statement might be complete nonsense.

I will be setting one though just to see how it works.

Where's that from then Griff?  We don't have messages from groundspeak turned on, I guess it's in one of those?

@L8HNB, there was mail through from groundspeak in the early hours today stating what Griff Grof quoted. I haven't looked into proper yet though.

Yes, it's from a GS email.

I haven't looked through it either, just doing so now  :)

Perhaps we could all place one and find eachother's  :D - wait, does anyone know if you get a special cache type icon for logging one?

For those who want to cut to the chase: http://www.geocaching.com/iheartgeocaching/
My concern is that all this could be the beginning of the end for caches as we know them as the new I <3 appears to need little input from TPTB.

Edit:  Strange there is nowt about it on GAGB or UK Groundspeak forums so far.

Find your own cache, but it doesn't count in your stats, but it may in the future...

Sounds to me like a virtual cache with a password to prove you got there :D

Errr, isn't another cache listing site already doing this ::)

Any one fancy a go, I'll create one ??? ;D

I agree. I don't think they were ever intended for us to create... we are allowed to do so for testing purposes.

I reckon what they're testing now will be introduced as a requirement for a new cache type - the return of the virtual  ??? ;D
