CacheWalker's Geocaching Road Trip thread
« on: June 20, 2015, 09:56:16 am »

A thread to discuss the road trip; which caches you've found, suggest caches to others to do and maybe even plan a trip together e.g. to a D/T 5 cache  :)

Let the discussion begin!  ;D

Did GC4RNY0 - CBA15:Croma, nr Worcester, for our 10+ favourite points on the 19th.  It's one that we had previously found (with a tip from wrighty!) but not logged as we were saving for a quick C&D if need be for the 366 day challenge.

We've finally got around to putting an event on in Worcester on the 7th July (GC5Q842) so that's the second one covered.  First event in the area for quite some time.  Every one welcome, of course, if you can make it.

Not sure about any of the others yet though...

YOU WERE GEOCACHER #19651 OF 47927 TO EARN THIS SOUVENIR. NICE JOB!

So I have the first souvenir. Not sure which cache triggered it, but I did do Agricultural Cathedral (Oxfordshire) on the 19th which has over 100 favs.

I am not chasing down the souvenirs, but if I should acquire any along then way then good.

I did Cape View today with 60 FP's and this was my first cache since 'road trip' started, so that triggered the first for me :)

I think most will just happen, just might be the T5 that will need thought, if I'm bothered by this :o

Still not sure which cache I'll do. There are some I have had planned anyway (e.g in the Brecon Beacons) but if not there are plenty with 10+ fave points where we're going on holiday. So there's no immediate rush for me  :) - although if I get an opportunity to find one sooner, I will!  :D

I agree @walktall, T or D 5 one will take more thought!  :-\

Already posting on the GS forums

FTF Found the cache on this very nice sunny day. Will only log it for the souvenir on July 17. Very well hidden. Will give you a Favorite when it will be logged. Thanks Michel for the cache. [/quote]

Absolutely, but lots do...

When I first looked on the evening of the 18th there were 16 folks who had got the souvenir, odd thinks I, then it dawned on me that they were probably Australian cachers logging!  We were #7738 to collect it, logged at about 16:20 on the 19th...

Forgetting all the ways it is possible to cheat the system for a moment, if any of us were in charge of this souvenir setup, what would we do differently?

I thought about having different levels of road trip souvenirs, Bronze, Silver, Gold kinda thing. Making it something to really work for. Newer cachers could still achieve souvenirs, whilst more experienced ones could really be made to work for the top level ones.

Back on specific topic, the next one should easily happen. I can't see the T5 or D5 one happening for me. Really not feeling overly fit currently, and I don't think I have any D5 caches in my solved pile that I haven't found before. I might try THIS ONE, but not by boat ;)

I agree @Gackt, it's almost too easy for some - having some different levels would be new and it'd be more rewarding to complete everything.

BUT I also think it's nice that many can complete it, a bit like the 31 Days of Geocaching, which is good :)

I wonder if anyone will complete all parts of it (once you can unlock everything) in one day as part of a proper road trip?  :D

GC4M9QM looks like a good one. I want to find Hippos Below this summer so that might be a good one for me  ;)

@Gackt: This one - http://coord.info/GC58YR8 - might be the one to go for.

@ Griff Grof:  I'd also love to find that one.

Thank you for pointing that one out. That could be one. At least it is not one of those D5s where I could stare at the screen for hours and still not know where to start :D

@Gackt - It's still a pretty tricky one though.
