Bad publicity for geocaching on youtube by craghopper
« on: November 25, 2012, 09:26:59 pm »
Craghoppers have posted this video on YouTube which I feel puts UK cachers discussions with landowners back years.
I have sent an email to them complaining and informing them of my intention to boycott, and encourage others to do so, all of their products until such times as it is withdrawn. customerservices@craghoppers.com, I would suggest that as many as possible email with the same basic complaint.

Company have withdrawn it, in order to re-edit.

Threads on the GAGB Facebook page.

Quote
Kate Holroyd on behalf of Jim McNamara, MD at Craghoppers

As a company we sincerely apologise for the misrepresentation of geocaching that has occurred in our lifestyle video: Craghoppers - Software Developer by day, Geo Cacher at heart.

It was never our intention to falsely represent any of the activities depicted in the videos. We recognise that with a little more research we would never have been filmed geocaching in this way.

We've removed all videos showing the team digging up the geocache and for any future projects any depiction of outdoor hobbies will be scrutinised by the relevant experts prior to filming and publication.

We appreciate your passionate responses and with the proposed actions above we will make every effort to ensure that this won't happen again.

Jim McNamara,
MD at Craghoppers

I saw it on another forum and thought it worth passing on. Craghopper should know nothing gets past a cacher on the hunt, hehe.
