Twixmas Event 2017
« on: October 03, 2017, 09:18:59 am »
George and I have offered to organise this years Twixmas event.
This event  traditionally is held on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year, however that Sunday this year is New Years Eve. We are happy to run the event on that day, but wondered if CacheWalkers would prefer another date i.e. the Saturday [30th]
Please let us know your thoughts on this ASAP. This is not a strict commitment to attend at this early date, just to give us a flavour of peoples feelings, and hopefully enable us to book the hall.  Thank you for all your feedback. Jenny and George  :)

As I don't go away for New Year's eve, I'm happy with either date :)

Hogshunters submitted the CW event for review a week Monday ago (20th) and received a reply saying it should be published within 7 days.  However, they've received nothing since and are away at present :(

The event ID is GC7F41K.

It will be on the 31st December at the village hall at Priors Marston (N52 12.959 W1 17.150)

They are planning a 5+ miles walk and hope to set approx 20 caches along the route, with 2 already in situ placed by someone else. There is also a church micro (https://coord.info/GC5M6G2) in the village :)

Thats a nice Northerly location, so we can do it in a day.

We are now back from our break in Germany [ we did our first virtual cache at Checkpoint Charlie!]

Many thanks to Walktall for keeping you up to date for us.

George has sent a reminder to ask them to publish the event as soon as possible - fingers crossed it happens soon.

We have planned the walk and done the co-ordinates for the caches, just got to put them in place [ hopefully next week] and submit them for publishing for the event.
Jenny and George.

I have noticed that this event (https://coord.info/GC7EZRD) is on the same day and is only 13.5 miles away and within 10 hours. Will the event stacking "rules" come in to play? Or because it's a souvenir day will an exception be made? Let's wait and see.

O dear :(

Looks rather a basic Event, a flash mob type, which would be a great shame if this blocked our CW event. I think an appeal would need to be lodged if it did, as there has been some planning need to be done before the Event location was know and booked and thus an Event cache could be submitted.

Just to let you all know the Twixmas Event has now been published!

George and I walked the first part of the walk this morning putting out the caches, and plan to complete this task by the weekend and then submit them for review, but ask that they not be released until the morning of the event. Some parts of the walk are quite muddy so sturdy footwear is advisable!
Look forward to catching up with as many who are able to get to the event. Jenny and George.

It was quite a stressful time for us - luckily we had a very patient mentor helping  ;D!

Everything went through smoothly - your notes must have done the trick.................

We've put a few more caches out yesterday, but this job has now come to halt - woke up to 3-4 inches of snow! Hope it clears soon!

The rules state that the caches must be in place before they are submitted for publishing - does this apply if we are asking for a definite date for publishing? We have all the coordinates and know where the caches will be put and could send the paperwork of, but weather is playing havoc with our plans!

Strictly speaking, yes.
The cache should be in place when you submit the page (You have to tick the box to say so.)

But if you can get the caches out before the event day, who's going to know it wasn't there when the cache page was submitted?

(Promise not to tell!)
I have a Geocaching problem...
Work gets in the way!
