Sorry folks but I've just posted a will attend log for Imber  ::)
It's somewhere that has been on our to do list for ages and we keep forgetting about the event.
We will try to attend the CW event if it doesn't clash though.
H.

As people are wanting to make plans shall we say that if there is nobody offering to take up the reigns by the end of this weekend then we will consider it cancelled for this year.

Mentioned it whilst we were out the other day. Think that will be the case. I haven't put myself forward to play a major part in organising, and in my opinion it is a bit late in the day to do so now.

What are other's plans with Imber? If enough people still have the date kept free we could still have a CacheWalker twixmas pub get together.. just for a drink and a chat. I don't mind choosing a central pub and getting an events page published for it. But I can't devote any time to organise any bells and whistles (raffles etc) for it, it would only be a simple affair.

Sounds like a plan to me as nobody is stepping up to run the Twixmas event.

Just a thought but does it need to be an event, would we get enough interest from forum members just to have a meet in a pub and then go for a walk to find some existing caches?

I've been watching the thread but also haven't put myself forward as I'm busy in the lead-up, both with school and then with family who leave on the 28th, but then we have more family coming the next day.

I think last year we didn't get the event page published until the second week of December, but, then again, there was discussion anyway.

It's a shame, but I like @SangueG's idea. Then again, if anyone does want to take the reigns, even better!

Is there any reason why it is not held in a pub like it used to be or is it that the numbers have just got too large.  If we walked in the morning and then just had a meal in the pub it doesn't need to have much organisation and there are no extra costs of hiring a hall etc as everyone just pays for their meal.  Sorry we can't offer to help organise as Derbyshire is a bit too far for everyone else to come to!

I think most of us feel that for it to be a proper Twixmas event there needs to be a pre event walk with some caches to find. I think it is the setting of the caches that people have no time to complete rather than the organising of the event itself.

We could place the caches as we walk on the day  :D

We could do a walk without caches, or just one with a longer multi or two. It'd be a shame to not have some sort of event to conclude the CWFC and launch next year's race etc, plus it's a nice way to end the caching year.

Remember our next event will be our 25th too.

Are there not any routes with caches on that haven't been submitted? If things had gone to plan I'd have one waiting in the area by now, but I've dropped that idea  :(

Good news - we think! We have been to look at Shenington (15minute drive from J12 of the M40) and set a trail from the village hall there which is available ( sorry for those who have other plans but we are going to stick with 28th December) and has a kitchen. It's a bit smaller than Adlestrop but seats 50. It costs £7 per hour. We have set a trail of 15 caches on a walk of just less than 4 miles, it's very scenic and undulating but no major hills, there are 4 existing caches on the way also.

We have done this as a joint venture with Calabrian Dreamer and her husband Rustytinman is happy to cook bacon rolls for people if wanted, we thought maybe £1.50 each to help towards the cost of the hall if that sounds OK? We are happy to provide coffee and mince pies, would we be allowed to ask for donations for those or would it be better to get people to bring raffle prizes again to cover cost of hall hire ?

There us a lovely little pub but it is small and they already have a party coming to eat , they would be very happy if people want to go for a drink but they only open till 4pm.

There is limited parking at the hall but there is the doctors surgery carpark a short walk away which is not used on a Sunday, we need to phone on Monday to get permission to use it but hopefully it won't be a problem, it has room for about 20cars and there is quite a bit of on road parking nearby.

This is a bit new for us as we've never done an event before so would welcome any comments.

Brilliant news!  ;D @strongsRus !

Shenington - never been there before, but have Googled it and it does look scenic - well done :)

Would you like help with event page code, or not? You don't have to use it but it would be nice to keep the same style, but don't worry if you don't want to  :)

Will publicise the date etc over our Twitter feed and forum member email system  :)

Have split the thread and added it to our Twixmas thread.

@strongsRus - some things to remember to slip into the itinerary: CWFC winners (most milage, have a feeling that'll be you  ;D, and first to Brazil, HKMHill, will double-check on that) and CacheWalker Award prizes, if we get enough nominations to validate any of them.

@Wrighty have you got any ideas for next year's TB race?

@strongsRus - just drop me an email when you're ready  :)

Willing to help where I can; not sure if I can make it yet, though... it depends what time our family our leaving, which sadly is unlikely to be before 9am  :(
