Twixmas 2014 (past event)
« on: March 25, 2014, 07:28:00 pm »
It might sound a tad crazy to start talking about this already, but that's because I am a tad crazy. Seriously though, although there are many months before that time of year, I really would like to attend this time (I missed last year because of late notice of the date for me), and have some fun this year.

My schedule for such holiday periods gets booked up extremely quickly, mostly because of work. Already I am looking at Rota's to who is covering what on which days around then, so... would it be possible to start looking at the date for this next event, if it is going to happen, and hopefully it will.

If you would like me to help organise this time, I am happy to, as I have plenty of notice if we start now. If we want a location more around the area that it has been held previously I might need some input from others, but otherwise I am happy to do whatever is needed.

Let me know.

Always good to have a plan, I think 28th December is the obvious choice.

I haven't really got an opinion on where, I expect my car will manage to deliver me to wherever it is.

As TJ says, 28th is the obvious.

Where - somewhere where new caches can be placed on a 4 mile(ish) route. I do think the village hall worked very well last year :)

Is this it?

If so, it looks good - new area, too, it looks beautiful.

@Wrighty, have you got any caches placed/planned around there  ???

As I said on another thread, I'm still not sure if I'll be around at the time  :-\
- But I reckon I will, as time stands!  :)

@Wrighty I think it would be a brilliant location, I don't think we have EVER had a Twixmas event out of Gloucestershire :o

And this is an area with not many caches  :)

Having looked at the website, I agree that the Village hall is ideal. HOWEVER, I did feel the Twixmas event was missing something last year, and I think that was a pub!  :D Having taken on the burden in 2012, it's a LOT of  effort and pressure on the day (will people pay?) but I think it's totally worth it, it saves people making a packed lunch, and everyone gets a good meal and cold drink in a more welcoming atmosphere. So I would love to see another event staged in a pub, BUT I completely understand if we opt for a Village Hall again, as I said, it's a good venue anyway and it saves people money whilst reducing the stress for us  :)

  • Now I liked the hall last year. I felt it gave us more freedom to do what we wanted.
  • People have complained about how expensive food is at different pubs before, we've made a venue change on this basis.
  • And, I think this is very important, takes some pressure off the Event organiser. :)
;D

 :D

This will be the fifth Twixmas Bash, so we've got to make it the best yet, and I think this venue is the perfect place to realise that  :)

Just the a few caches around the village, two Multi's - @Wrighty have you found either of these?

I think due to the lack of caches, it'll be somewhere most cachers haven't explored, making it a more special day out in a new area for many :)

Did the two multis here in 2007 and as TJ stated in his log for GC1043K, "What a fantastic walk this would be if there were a few more caches en-route as a bit of a reward."

If anyone is interested, AQ-L needs resuscitating, almost 2 years unfound.
