Splash Mob 2014 (past event)
« on: May 17, 2014, 10:38:19 am »
Putting this together with a beach party theme.

From recollection:
TJ said not the last week of June or July
Griff needs it to be after the 13th June
Me July & August are getting busy

So, the 21st June at 12noon looks good to me :)

Or perhaps the 14th, as the weekend of the 21st is A WILD (WEST) CHRISTMAS 2014 Event plus other associated events over the weekend.

Thoughts ???

CacheWalker goes to the Beach Splash Mob Event on the 14th June, has now been submitted for review ;D

A taster until it gets published:

The Event: at N 51° 53.020 W 001° 45.431
The Event will begin precisely at 12:00 noon and conclude precisely at 12:15pm.

This year, we thought a Tropical Beach Theme would add to the fun and confusion of the locals. So bring along a prop and appropriate clothing but REMEMBER, until till 12 noon, you are a muggle and shouldn't stand out of the crowd angel

There will be a log book to sign but can you please BYOP (bring your own pen), to speed up signing.

Hopefully we will get a group photo as well just before the Event ends.

Keep a watch on the Event just in case of any updates.

Parking:
Bourton-on-the-Water is a busy place for parking with all the muggles about; DON’T expect to find any parking very close to the Event. There are several Pay & Display car parks but if you are prepared for a short walk, there are free parking spots off Station Road at a local supermarket and country store outlets at N51 53.297 W001 45.295. MAKE SURE you allow time for parking; I wouldn't want you to miss logging the Event as you were trying to find some where to park!

Will my Event get published, now I have sent the reviewer this:

Quote
I don't agree with groundspeaks regional map, Southern England in the UK doesn't mean the area that they are indicating but the whole of Southern England.

see: Regions of England

But I have changed it to Southern England

after I got this:

Quote
You need to edit the UK Region for this cache to  Southern England to better reflect where the cache is as you have selected the 'South West'.  You can view the UK Regions map on the UK Wiki here. This will show how the region boundaries are laid out.  Selecting the correct region ensures your cache is seen by your local reviewer who knows the area well and cachers nearby will be notified when your cache is published.

I agree with you completely - I have always thought some of their region boundaries were incorrect...I reckon they'll ignore your comment and publish it anyway  ::) :D

I have never understood groundspeak's regions for the UK. I had that request to change from South West to South on the first cache I hid.

I will not have the opportunity to do a lot of caching over the next few months, but I hope to make it to this event as the last couple were great fun.

It's the first time I've had the request, even though I've always selected South West.

I wonder if they are pushing it, as more and more caches are being published. GS should go the full hog and have cachers select the county, then there wouldn't be this confusion about made up regions [:o]

I had the same issue on the last couple of events I have published, as you say it would make more sense to list it by county.

Have you heard any more yet as I am itching to log a 'will attend'

Oh, did you edit the listing content in? I could swear I didn't see that there after you'd posted it :D

Ooh, see you've gone for the 14th :) - aka admin re-switchover day :)

Can't think of a better way of celebrating exams being over than going to Bourton as if it were a tropical island ;D ;D ;D
