Ice Mob event, Sept 20th! (past event)
« on: September 06, 2014, 10:44:03 am »
CacheWalker gets chilly - Ice Mob Event

Thanks for organising @walktall  :)

This is an Ice Mob Event to have a bit of fun in the icy waters of the Windrush in the middle of Bourton-on-the-Water and to confuse the locals!

What is a Ice Mob Event?
This is very similar to a Flash Mob Event except you will be standing in water to sign the log book and for those who want to do it, pouring icy water over themselves (optional)! If you are not familiar with a Flash Mob Event, the idea is to be close to the Event co-ordinates but blend in with the muggles, acting like a muggle. At the start of the Flash Mob Event, usually a whistle is sounded, you all congregate at the Event co-ordinates, sign the log, swap trackables and have a chat. At the end, again a whistle is sounded, you all disperse as quickly as you came, leaving the locals wondering what on earth just happened!

The Event will begin precisely at 12:00 noon and conclude precisely at 12:15pm.

This Event is to have a bit of fun in the icy waters of the Windrush. It's optional but why not join in a mass pouring of icy Windrush water over yourself, hopefully someone will be taking pictures. So bring along a bucket, spare clothing and towel but REMEMBER, until till 12 noon, you are a muggle and shouldn't stand out of the crowd

There will be a log book to sign but can you please BYOP (bring your own pen), to speed up signing.

Hopefully we will get a group photo as well just before the Event ends.

Keep a watch on the Event just in case of any updates.

Parking:
Bourton-on-the-Water is a busy place for parking with all the muggles about; DON’T expect to find any parking very close to the Event. There are several Pay and Display car parks but if you are prepared for a short walk, there are free parking spots off Station Road at a local supermarket and country store outlets at N51 53.297 W001 45.295. MAKE SURE you allow time for parking; I wouldn't want you to miss logging the Event as you were trying to find some where to park!

This is the official thread for discussion!

Edit: silly me, left the link/GC code off the announcement  ::)

Hope you all have a great time tomorrow, I have a bad cold so didn't think it'd be wise to attend, giving the forecast too   :(

Sorry you're feeling under the weather. You should pop along though, if only for a few minutes for some fresh air. I am feeling abysmal too with the shakes after a three day migraine and a nasty chest infection (is there any such thing as a nice one?), just will be doing my best to avoid flying buckets of water :-\

Thanks for those pics @byatis

I'd have loved to have been there if I hadn't had such a bad cold   :(

If it's alright with you, I could tweet a couple of those snaps on our Twitter account?

Here's the link to the other vid. Still processing, it should work to watch shortly, but I'm off to bed now.

Thanks again for today. When's the next one? :)

So pleased so many decided that they were a bit toooo dry & warm and needed help to change this :o

Thank you @Gackt for taking some good pics with my camera. I need to go through them and upload some but was busy with the our village Curry & Quiz do last night.

I think we got even more tourists taking pictures of these strange English customs  ;D

Some very good pics/videos already uploaded, thank you ;D

PS Managed to cycle all the way up the hill without stopping, afterwards  ;D
