Geolympix
« on: April 10, 2012, 07:32:58 pm »
With the date fast approaching, it's about time we got some discussion going on about it! Is anyone planning to go?

Geolympix -  Oxford Town Hall,  Sunday 22nd July 2012 - A summer festival of caching!

What do you all think about the clash with PIRATEMANIA?  :o

Haven't made any definate plans for this yet but I was thinking that I would do the 11 in 11. I also believe that they will be setting caches to cover all 81 D/T combinations so I will also take advantage of that to finish my grid.

One to be watched I think

I agree, hope it gets Mega though. Especially with Piratemania hitting Mega status last year, and with the dates clashing, think many will opt for Piratemania.

I'd like to the the 11 icons in 11 hours, and the work on my d/t grid after that (all the caches will stay)

Already done Banbury webcam so that knocks two off the list straight away, but we will be in Oxford for the day as it's only an hour away.

Ah, what a shame. Have you done the next closest one, "Warwick Union Webcam"? A few people have been having the same problems as you...  :'(

Look at this

7pm is their scheduled time for the "CITO 11 icons in 11 hours finish" event!

Luckily for us, there is a Shakespeare themed post Geolympix event, details TBA. I want to spend most of the day at the Mega itself, and popping out to find caches within the city for the challenge. Leaving the Marathon cacheathon, and the Cycle series to do after the Geolympix, during the rest of the summer. The cycle series has now been published by the way, that alone contains three cache types, so that would take you to four already...

Hopefully my dad won't be on one of his trips, after all my anticipation of advertising it in my logs etc - I've known about this since it was first proposed in September 2010, I was at that very event - so have been waiting for it since then...

I've already done the Warwick one myself when I did 9 icons in a day :D

Geolympix 2012 - Post-Marathon Pub Event

This one is looking popular already! Anyone fancy a group CacheWalker start at the suggested time of 6am?  :D - 200 FTFs? Sounds tempting. I know that that's a lovely area too!  :)

The BBQ at the event is also very tempting  ;)
