CW event in Worcester
« on: July 18, 2013, 09:11:57 pm »
As October seems to be free would it be possible to hold an event in Worcester City, as there seems to be quite a lot of caches within a mile radius.
Or has it already been done?
I am not sure I would know how to organise it although I am willing if someone can give me a few pointers as to what to do etc.

 :D

That's great your interesting in holding an event!  :)

I don't think we've gone up that far before, so it'd make a good change!

I'm currently making a "Want to hold a CW event page?" On here to give people some pointers. It's normally us forum regulars who hold them, but of course, any CacheWalker can. All that we ask for it to use the CacheWalker name is that:

1. It's posted on this forum to let us all know
2. It'd be preferable to use the CW event page format (copy and paste code and then fill in!)

I'll split this topic later and add some tips, as starting to run late for today now  :o Will also paste event page code here later, if you want to use it, but you don't have to  :)

I've done a bit of caching in Worcester, even been to an event up there :) There are some keen cachers up there including a certain pair who won the CacheWalker Superbike Challenge in 2008 :D

For your first Event, especially if you haven't been to any events, is to have the straight forward meet and greet type event. Just choose a suitable location, usually a pub with a reasonable amount of room, checking with the pub it's OK.

I know Griff is going to post more on this, so will hold off saying any more.

Will try and finish the page and get it up later today  :)

Will keep you posted. Have split the topic to keep masses of discussion away from the CW event thread  :)

Page is now up :) http://cachewalker.createaforum.com/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=5

For some reason, I cannot paste the code there, so I will do so here for you, temporally - though it will be found just above the first photo on the page for anyone to copy  :)

Thanks for doing that, I have copied and pasted it into a Word document, so that I can save it.  Will read it over the weekend and see what I think.
Also, this reply box has gone really wide all of a sudden  :)

Events can't be published any sooner than 3 months ahead but HAVE TO BE published at least two weeks before, so you have plenty of time yet.

Unless its a special event, a lot of cachers get an Event published around the 1 month mark before the actual day.

Thanks.

I will wait until the middle of next month then before I post some details, that will give me time to investigate pubs (online I hasten to add!)

Hopefully there will be a geo-cache up and running by then, one of those where you go around solving the clues etc etc.

Have a good weekend all.

No no no! That is not how it is done at all. A tour of all the pubs in the area to sample their traditional ales and pressed apple beverages is what is expected so that the event is hosted at only the finest of establishments ;)

Only jesting. Worcester is a touch far for me to pop to for an event, but I am watching this thread and will attend if it is entirely possible :)
