As time is moving so quickly, any ideas on the route for this one yet?

Also, @walktall, are you happy to discuss plans here, or would you rather use the other thread and treat this one as official announcements - e.g. to discuss what's been confirmed?

Two points on the route:

  • Lets deal with the easier - will it be a walk down together or people doing their own thing after the Event?

  • Going up - follow a ridge or do an up, down, up route?

This presumes for what has already been said, that the walk was more important than getting every cache on Sugar Loaf, as the proposed meeting point is the 'Parking with a view' car park, which will mean missing the caches a little bit further east and that Puzzle cache mentioned.

So, the route up is either:
Blue + Red = 2.5 miles
or
Blue + Green = 2.9 miles

I am not really fussed which route we take. I think it would be good to stick together, but I won't lose any sleep if I am left on my own.

I intend to go and grab Wales 1st cache and the Punchbowl Earthcache after the event, so if anyone who wants to share journey/fuel costs I have four seats available in my car. We could meet somewhere around Cheltenham/Evesham area perhaps.

I agree with @tarmacjohn, although it'd be nice to have the opportunity to pop over to those Easterly caches whilst we're there, at our own accord, but I'm happy to have a stick-together route the whole time rather than a split into small groups one too  :)

And TJ, I'd be up for that  :)

Ultimately, the weather may have the last choice  ::)

I think, we can see how it is on the day and take it from there, as both up routes are close to each other and end up at the same point.

The down route again can be the plan but could be changed for a more direct route down if circumstances change on the day.

Depending if Jill+dogs are going, depends if I join the merry TJ waggon :) I've done Wales 1st but not the Punchbowl, so would go along. There are some other caches (wink, wink) there as well. Perhaps I should check to see if they are still active.

Hope everyone has a good time. I will not be able to make this one as it is my better half's birthday and she would not be amused if I spent it doing what I wanted.

Well, this is helpful:

(BBC Weather for the 19th in Abergavenny)
 :D

So, what's been decided on the group walk, is it still see how we feel on the day?

Route: Blue + Green going up, Orange to come down but weather will have the last option.

I was up on Cleeve Hill today and could see Sugar loaf in the distance.

Hope you have a good day and think of me at work :P

That's a shame, it would have been great if you could make it @Wrighty  :(

The weather seems touch and go :o

Yes, I think the cloud/rain/sun is basically 'anything can happen, we're not fully sure' as yesterday morning the whole day was that but now we're seeing some light cloud, so I reckon they'll update it as they can.

It would be a shame if the visibility isn't good  :(
