Sounds like a good idea. Would anyone be willing to organise one?

You would need a hall and access to a projector.

I should have already seen it in Seattle but it rained all day and by the evening, there was no-way they could hold the out door event, so it got cancel :(

PS When the notification first came out I noticed a mistake, they had the 19th or the 26th Oct that the event had to be published by :o I let them know and see they have now corrected it but no message back saying thank you :( In fact my comment has now been deleted  :P

Have access to a projector  :)

Don't think I'll have time to organise an event around then though  :(

But happy to help (e.g with the projector) if someone else wants to  :)

Wonder if Groundspeak are looking for people to arrange large events to be allowed to download and show the films? If you have a projector and have about 10 people that might come and watch they may not be so enthusiastic to let the films be downloaded compared to hiring a hall and having 100+ people coming to watch.

With larger events such as that other complications like public liability insurance may come in to play. If kept small and uncomplicated I would be happy to help out where I could.

What I don't like is:

Quote
If Geocaching HQ determines your event meets the requirements for GIFF Weekend, you will be provided with the file containing the GIFF 2015 film reel and your event will be added to HQ’s bookmark list of GIFF Weekend Events. If your event is not approved by Geocaching HQ, you will be notified. We recommend you then notify your guests that you will not be showing the GIFF 2015 films.

So, you have gone to the trouble to find a venue, organise the event, sort out the equipment and then GS say no :(

Hmm hadn't noticed that, that's not good  :-\

I think an event in this area in the right venue would potentially attract 30-50 people - especially if there's not another one nearby.

If our new hall was open (it might be by then), I would be tempted to organise the event with a small entrance charge to cover the hire of the hall. It can easily seat 100 but don't think we've got 100 chairs!

Wow, fantastic village hall @walktall (just looking at the photos)

That would be a great idea - could possibly add some chairs, but not many  :D.

Think the small entrance charge wouldn't be a problem, if anything it would make it seem like more of a 'cinema' event.  :D.

Could get popcorn etc too  ;D

That's good, some interesting titles :)

Now I want to see them :D

Any advances on the possibility of organising one?

I noticed. Been looking at halls but could use the current (old) hall at Upper Rissington but it's not very good.

It's been ready since the 9th March :o :o :o but between the developers and the Parish Council, it's still not open and at the moment, the light at the end of the tunnel isn't getting any closer >:(

Right I'm going to bite the bullet as they say, this is what I'm going to do:

What is GIFF Weekend?
GIFF Weekend is your chance to watch the entire reel of the 16 finalist films
from the 2015 Geocaching International Film Festival. This was rained off in
Seattle at the Block Party, so is the first Global screening of the films over
the 5th to 8th November.

How long is the GIFF 2015 film reel?
The entire film reel is approximately one hour long.

And remember, you will earn a souvenir for attending a registered GIFF Weekend Event.

EVENT DETAILS:
When: 8th November 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm
Where: Village Hall, Hawker Square, Upper Rissington GL54 2NT

Film show will start at 5:30pm PROMPT

There will be tea and coffee available and a donation box, as there was a cost in
hiring the hall. This is in line with Groundspeak Guidelines and any donation is
totally voluntary. Any excess, will be donated to a local registered
charity.

IMPORTANT:
Maximum seating capacity is 40. So it is first come, first served, if
there is that level of interest.
When logging Will Attend, please state how many seats you wish to book. If
for any reason you find you can not attend, please let us know so we can offer
the place(s) to someone else. Thank you.
