CW 2016 TB race ideas
« on: December 19, 2015, 05:32:56 pm »
Just wondering - shall we do the SuperBike challenge, or perhaps something new?

Personally, I think it would be nice to run something a little different, maybe like we did in 2014 with the Footballers challenge coinciding with the World Cup.

Obviously we've got the Olympics next year, but what could the items be?

Or we could try finding a bunch of figures for something like smurfs or other well-known characters?

Thoughts?

Would it be possible to keep a tally of the favourite points of the caches each TB visits. The winner will be the one who amasses the most FP's.

Highest cache visited?

Find someone going abroad and have a race home?

Some good ideas TJ. I like the fave point one, although there's no way to measure this on tb-run.com - we'd have to ourselves, which would be more of a job.

I like the race home idea - we'd need to find someone though.

One thing tb-run does offer is racing to a cache, which could be fun - we could pick a so-called TB hotel in a really obscure location.

Or, perhaps we could simply have a race around all the continents, including to Antarctica - an 'Expedition to Antarctica' - this would go with the fact that the Olympics are very international  :D - and, before you ask, there are caches on Antarctica!  ;) (http://coord.info/GC4TM62 - even signyred, who I believe attended CW events in the past, has found it!)

However, we do want it to be do-able.  ::)

Any more thoughts?

Although we are new to this, I think Antarctica could be a touch difficult to achieve!

We shall be going to Canada and attending a Mega in August, but I suppose that would be too late in the year to place the TB's would it?

Well, there have been quite a lot of TBs in GC4TM62 over the years so it wouldn't be impossible, certainly different and a bit out of the box  :D

I think August is a little too late, which is a shame  :(

As I suggested in my first post, we could just have a normal race with different items (not SuperBikes) attatched to the TBs, but we need to settle on an idea for the theme.

The race idea is good from another far far away cache but can be over very quickly and for some (me) still going on, 2 years later :o

For a theme, I like the idea of Olympics.

Or if we want it local, a Cotswold item theme.

Olympics is the obvious one; now, which items? Ideally we need to buy a load of them for a cheap price.

Maybe each of us could be a country with different country key-rings rather than different sporting items?

We're running out of time with this. No luck finding any items on my side. How about everyone else?

I think it would be fun to do something different but, if not, we can go for SuperBikes again, does anyone have any and if not where could I find them?

Clearly this year's race will begin a few days late. Let's say Monday 4th as it's the start of the week and people can place their TBs ASAP?

Sly2 who has taken part in this year's race wrote to say thanks for organising 2015's race and said she has loads of these for 2016 if we are interested:

She said she could try and get a load of toy planes as well. She works there so I understand she can get this stuff for free  :)

Maybe I'll email asking how big the planes are, if they're too big we'll go with these  :)

Edit: can't get planes for a couple of months so we shall go with the tags  :)

Unfortunately she said the store has been cleared out so there's no where near enough  :(

What now?
