How does the TB race work out the mileage where the TB has been 'dipped' into caches, despite the note attached to said TB requesting that this is not to be done?

It doesn't pick up any of the virtual drops. It's on a setting just to count the mileage of the first 'Dropped off' log of each cacher  :)

Thanks, so no need to delete all the dipped logs then? I assume that the mileage will be from the cache it was picked up from to the cache where it was dropped off?

The mileage is from the cache it was picked up from to the 1st cache visit (dropped or dipped). It can be a right pain in the *** when people don't look at the cache page

Thanks... having not been in a TB race before what was done in this instance previously regarding TB's being dipped?

My TB was dipped into a cache just 3km away, so if it gets dropped on in Australia next it will simply be a distance of 3km travelled as far as the race is concerned?

There is a choice of rules when you set up the race, this year is the same as last year. Another option is every visit counts for the mileage, the way we do it encourages people to move it on sooner.

In the case of a TB that is dipped in a local cache and then gets taken to Australia by the same cacher then, as you say, the only mileage recorded is the local mileage. Bummer, isn't it.

We had a TB last year that went to Peru and Canada with the same cacher after bring dipped locally. It got a recorded mileage of 1 mile. :-)

Suppose I could wait for them to drop it off and then delete all the dipped logs :-)

Mine might be going in Heathrow cache next Saturday as I am in London for a days caching.

On a side issue you gotta love people who don't read the TB page. I see Grizzly's is on its way to Scotland but it was dipped in a local cache 1st.

My TB has now made it to Hull, but still only 4 miles on the clock and no dipping from the person who picked it up then dropped it off, so bit confused about that?
