User Feedback
« on: January 26, 2013, 09:41:53 am »
As was mentioned in the Shoutbox, we're planning to update the site soon - whether it's a touch-up or a complete overhaul is up to you   ;D - YOU have the power to be HEARD in this thread!  :)

What do you like about the site? What would you really really want changed, or added?

Do you like the colour scheme, and layout? Do you like the logo at the top, or would you prefer a banner?

Do you like the portal? Or did you prefer it when you arrived to the board index?

Do you think it's needed to update the site? Update, or overhaul? (Keep things fresh?)

Let us know everything you like and dislike about the site, and what YOU want!

- If you don't post anything (Boo  >:( ) then we could add something that will haunt you forever more  ::) :o

I know it is one thing we have tried and it had a few bugs but a scroll bar on recent posts. I find I've got so use to this, that I sometimes miss recent posts :o

Failing that, a button to click on that takes you to a new page showing recent posts.

It is something we WILL be adding, as now it won't disturb the portal. We can add a button too  :)

I found I missed some posts too, having lost the Internet for a few days  :o

I aim to be giving the site its spring clean in the next week  :)

Do you want a template change? This won't be layout, just the general theme such as the fonts, size and thickness of bars (such as the "post reply one above)
There are lots to choose from, such as the Christmas one we had from a while, and I can even make my own or edit the forum code for this one (change the colours etc).

Would you like a template change to keep things fresh? Or are you happy to leave it as it is  ???

As part of the updates, we'd be considering spreading the world over social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, as we've already done on CacheFace... This would be purely to spread the word, and advertise  :) However, if there's enough interest, we could have a Facebook group to reach other cachers, but there's a fear this may take attention away from the forum  :-\

Should we establish ourselves elsewhere or just keep to here  ???

The only thing that annoys me a little is when there is more than 1 page in a thread the page numbers are very small and close together and difficult to select on the ipad. See piccy below

Nothing springs to mind for us really.

Perhaps "Weekly Poll" maybe has to much frontage, and could be a seperate tab along with the Home, forum, help ones etc.., thus allowing more " Latest Posts" to be seen.

Don't people know we live on it then ;) LOL

Perhaps you need a proper computer ;) - Sorry  :D

Should be easy enough to make the buttons bigger and bolder, thanks for the suggestion  :)

Sorry for the typo!  :D And that did make me laugh!, sorry TJ!  :D - but really, do you think we should bother establishing ourselves elsewhere to spread the word or just keep to here.?

Thanks for the suggestion  :) What do you mean by too much frontage, and allowing more latest posts to be seen? It will have its own tab at the top, good idea! . Also, note that there will be a scroll down on the recent posts block on the homepage, so you'll be able to scroll down all posts made until it stops saying "new".. One thing I don't think anyone notices, which I currently use, is the "show unread posts since last visit" under "Hello [Your username]"  :D .... I can make that bigger and bolder, too?  :)

We meant, it took up too much space, and that it could give more space for extra entries of "Latest Posts"

On the socail network thing.. If the site had a twitter feed, I would follow it. I find it useful to get up to date info through that medium. I am not talking about tweeting every new thread and post that is made here, that I would find annoying. But if there was a sudden change in the superbike race leaderdship for example or another notable newsworthy item, that would be good.

Tweeting threads with a geocaching hashtag does bring in a lot of page views, though I haven't had evidence that the views turn into signed up members.

Thank you for commenting upon it. There is an option to tweet all new threads  :o

I'd liked to have integrated the social network (I was thinking mainly Twitter, not FB, too) if everyone agreed, and thought it was good. But you're the first person to have commented, so I'll wait and see if any more do once the site is back on and then maybe we can add it  :)

Always cautious not to add things that people won't like   :D (and it will give me more time to think of something other than @CacheWalker which is taken  :o )

Please can others comment when you see this so I can get a wider view on whether to have CW on Twitter (or FB too).
